Perfect Skin for that Perfect Day

You want everything to be perfect on your wedding day and that includes your skin.  To get glowing skin you need to start the right regimen now!  The longer you are using proper skincare, the better your skin will look.  Here’s a countdown list of skin care must do’s and recommendations for perfect, glowing skin on your big day.

Perfect Wedding Day Skin

Five Months Before Your Wedding
  1. Start taking care of your skin now.  Remove any makeup at the end of the day, wash your face, use a pore refining toner, apply a retinoid, and finish with an eye cream and moisturizerI would also recommend exfoliating your facial skin 1 to 2 times per week to remove any dead skin cells and better prepare your skin for your skincare products.
    1. Recommended Products: Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Regimen, REDEFINE Multifunction Eye Cream, REDEFINE Intensive Renewing Serum, and ENHANCEMENTS Microdermabrasion Paste.
  2. If you have a double chin that you want to get rid of, there is an injectable called Kybella™. Kybella is used to dissolve unwanted fat in the neck area for a smooth, contoured jawline.  Most people need 3 to 6 treatments spaced 1 month apart.  You should give yourself at least 2 months after your last treatment to make sure any swelling is gone.
    1. Kybella is administered by a trained injector. If you are interested, consult your dermatologist.
  3. If you want to improve your skin’s texture, you can try microneedling. Most people need about 6 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.  Start your first treatment about 14 weeks prior to your big day to see the best results and give yourself 3 weeks after your last treatment to fully heal.
    1. Microneedling can be done at the dermatologist’s office but there are microneedlers on the market for home use as well. The needles on the at-home products aren’t as long as the ones used at the dermatologist’s office but you can still get amazing results without pain.
    2. Recommended Product: Rodan + Fields REDEFINE AMP MD System.
Eight Weeks Before Your Wedding
  1. Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.
  2. If you want to have the appearance of lush, long lashes start using a lash enhancing serum now. You could see results in as little as four weeks, but your best results will be seen at eight weeks.
  3. Recommended Product:  Rodan + Fields Enhancements Lash Boost
Six Weeks Before Your Wedding
  1. Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.
  2. If you want to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, restore lost facial volume and plump up your lips, now is the time to think about dermal fillers. You could get these treatments as soon as 2 weeks before your wedding, but you want to make sure you give yourself plenty of time for any bruising or swelling to go away.
  3. Dermal fillers need to be administered by a trained injector. If you are interested, consult your dermatologist.
Four Weeks Before Your Wedding
  1. Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.
  2. If you have “peach fuzz” you want to get rid of, dermaplaning is a great option. This procedure has the added benefit of removing dry, dead skin cells for a more radiant complexion.  It has no downtime, but some people may experience break outs afterwards, so it is best to give yourself some time to heal in case this happens to you.
  3. If you are thinking of a chemical peel, now is the time to do it (as long as it’s not your first one). If it’s your first one, then skip it or schedule it 2 months in advance in case you have a reaction.
Three Weeks Before Your Wedding
  1. Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.
  2. If you are considering neuromodulators like Botox® to erase wrinkles, make sure to get them at around 3 weeks prior to your big day but no more than 3 months before. The results can take up to 7 days to appear and some people notice a “frozen” look that can last for the first 2 weeks.  The results only last for 3 to 6 months so you want to make sure you don’t get them too early.
  3. If you need to have pore extractions, this is the time to do it.
Two Weeks Before Your Wedding
  1. Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.
  2. Get a facial but skip the chemical peel. It is best to have a facial done at the two-week mark in case of a breakout.
One Week Before Your Wedding
  1. Broken record alert… Continue with your daily skincare regimen at home.  Yes, this is that important.
  2. If you have rosacea or your skin is prone to redness, consider a laser treatment. Some laser treatments, like the VBeam, can be done one week before your big day.
  3. Lasers need to be administered by a trained professional. Be sure to consult your dermatologist.
The Big Day
  1. Exfoliate your face and neck with Rodan + Fields ENHANCEMENTS Microdermabrasion Paste. This will buff off the top dead layer of skin cells.  Use gentle pressure for only 5 to 10 seconds so you don’t cause any redness.
  2. Rinse your face and neck well, pat dry and follow with a pore refining toner like Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Pore Minimizing Toner.
  3. Apply a hyaluronic acid serum like Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Serum. This will lock moisture into your skin for a dewy appearance.
  4. Utilize a moisturizer that contains a sunscreen like Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Triple Defense Treatement.
  5. Lastly, even your skin tone with Rodan + Fields Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid and any other makeup.
  6. For soft, dewy skin on the rest of your body, apply Rodan + Fields Active Hydration Body Replenish to lock in moisture.
  7. Show off your beautiful, glowing skin!
Summary

Everyone wants to have perfectly glowing skin on their big day and with a little planning it is possible.  Take the time now to find the best skincare products for you and develop a good skincare routine.  Make this a habit now and you will not only have beautiful skin on your big day, but also for the rest of your life. If you want to have more in depth procedures done, like lip fillers, then earlier is generally better.  A good rule of thumb is to not start any new products within two weeks of your big day in case you have a reaction to one of the ingredients.  But, the most important thing to remember is to have fun!
